The Perils of Illegal Entry: Arizona Border Crossings and the Humanitarian Response

In 2010 there were 253 migrant deaths recorded in the Arizona borderlands; there has been an annual reported average of 210 deaths for the past 10 years. These are recorded deaths—human remains that are found, the exact number of migrant deaths in Arizona are unknown. This presentation is based on my 15-month experience with the human rights activist group No More Deaths. Their mission is to end death and suffering in the Arizona desert. In a slide presentation, I will be illustrating the dangers encountered by one who might wish to cross through this area of the U.S.-Mexico border; I will also detail the humanitarian response.
